History
With the opening of the royal road from Lisbon to Cascais in 1868, the royal family spent, from 1870 onwards, long periods by the sea, in Cascais, followed by the entire court.
At that time, many of the houses were built that stand out as an outstanding example of summer architecture marking the urban fabric of the village.
It is in this context that the 5th Countess of Ficalho, Maria Josefa de Mello, built the Chalet in 1897, named after its owner, in the noble area of the village of Corte, with a clear influence of English and Swiss construction models. The house, maintained in the same family since its construction, has now been completely rehabilitated, in a quality recovery, having been modernized, preserving all its original features.
